nuts，而不能随手译成dry goods(纺织品)。这方面的例子不胜枚举。 　　再如汉语形容新事物大量出现时常用“犹如雨后春笋”这个短语，但是在英国，由于竹子不是土生土长的植物，因此语言中缺乏与此有关的原始词汇。汉语中的“笋”字只能译成“bamboo shoot”(竹芽)，汉语中的“雨后春笋般地涌现”，在英语则只能对应地使用动词“mushroom(雨后春笋般涌现)”或惯用语“spring[grow,shoot]up like mushrooms”。 　　例1：Since the opening of the first shop，new branches have mushroomed all over thecountry. 　　译文：自从第一家店开张以来，新的分店如雨后春笋般地遍布了全国。 　　2.语义联想差异 　　语言本身不仅是文化的重要组成部分，也是文化的载体。每一种语言都是一个国家、民族文化发展的产物，都有其久远的历史背景和丰富的文化内涵。
