　　中图分类号：H159 文献标识码：A　　摘 要：“信、达、雅”“传神”和“化境”等是翻译应遵循的基本原则，对于英文小说题目的翻译更应如此。本文通过列举一些英美著名小说的翻译，说明只要译者具备较高素养，不论是采用直译、意译，或者直译和意译相结合的方法，都能取得较好的翻译效果。 　　关键词：英文小说题目翻译 　　翻译是一门艺术，是语言艺术的再创作。如果把写作比成自由跳舞，翻泽就是戴着手铐脚镣跳舞，而且还要跳得优美。由于历史背景、文化传统的不同，对于言简意赅、蕴意深远的小说名就不是简单的直译可以解决的问题，而应采取意译或直译、意译相结合的翻译方法，但是无论直译或意译都应以“信、达、雅” “传神”和“化境”为基本原则。 　　英文小说名中直译的自然不少，有UncleTom"SCabinet（《汤姆叔叔的小屋》），Pride and Prejudice（《傲慢与偏见》），Jane.Eyre（《简.爱》）等，直译看似简单，可它的艺术性却远远超出了语言的范畴。例如，夏洛特.博朗蒂所著的Jane Eyre，译者巧妙地选择了《简.爱》两字概括主人公的人生观和价值观，表现出了对于她的偏爱和欣赏。在夏洛特所处的时代，英国妇女没有政治、经济、社会地位，Jane Eyre——一个相貌平常、无金钱、无社会地位，无父无母的孤儿，她敢于去反抗，保持自己的人格独立，争取男女平等。故事中浪漫、神秘而真实的情节，突出了Jane简单、朴实的爱情观以及追求平等、真实的爱情和婚姻的强烈愿望。对于那些寓意深远的英文小说题目则惟有意译或直译、意译相结合才更能表达作者的意图和小说的内涵。所谓意译，就是在保证原文内容不变的基础上，不依据原文的语言模式进行翻译，对于采取直译方式不能确切反映原文涵义与风格的文章采用此种译法，可更确切地体现原文风格。英文小说中以人名命名的Oliver Twist，Rebecca，Robinson Crusoe，就没有简单地直译题目，而是既根据题目与内容又超越题目与内容，意译题目。必要时译者甚至采用更加广义的意译方法，完全超越题目，根据小说内容，重新命名，以更加确切地反映小说的核心、作者的意图。 　　Oliver Twist（《雾都孤儿》）中的主人公是一个名叫Oliver Twist的伦敦孤儿，Oliver为“橄榄枝”，象征着和平，twist意为“扭曲”，小说虽然表面上是以主人公的姓名命名，其内在含义却是表示扭曲了的橄榄枝，暗示一名无辜、可怜的儿童原本纯洁、善良的品质遭到黑暗社会的无情扭曲，逐渐堕落为一名扒手，最后在一位善良的老年绅士帮助下才回归正途。译者在翻译时，采用广义的意译方法，以“雾”暗示社会环境阴暗而又令人迷茫，以“雾都”代指伦敦，点明故事发生的地点，以“孤儿”说明主人公的身世，强调其失去双亲，无依无靠。“雾都孤儿”形象地勾勒出小主人公的人生经历。 　　Rebecca直译为《吕蓓卡》，意泽为《蝴蝶梦》，此单词本身意义I rebecame（再次成为）转化而来 Rebeccq，在故事开始即已死去，然而她的精神始终通过其忠仆和情人控制着整个曼陀丽庄园。全文充满了浪漫主义色彩，作者描述了她放浪形骸的私生活，以及与德温特的畸形婚姻，这一切像一场阴森压抑、绝望恐怖的“噩梦”缠绕着男主人公德温特的生活，使他在与文中另一女性“我”相遇、相知并闪电般结婚之后，吕蓓卡的魔力仍似一层迷雾笼罩着他们的婚姻，令人窒息。直至生死关头，夫妻二人拨开迷雾，坦诚相对，两人的生活才获得重生．拥有梦寐以求的美好爱情。我国古代有庄子化蝶之梦，有梁山伯与祝英台生不能结合、死后化蝶双飞的故事，译者也许受此启发，以“蝴蝶”暗喻真正的爱情最终冲破层层迷雾成为现实，“美梦”得以成真。 “梦”更是贯穿全文，既有不堪回首的往事“噩梦”，又有追求幸福生活的“美梦”，也有缠缠绵绵的“思乡之梦”， “蝴蝶梦”的译法实在是意境悠远，妙不可言！ 　　而Robinson Crusoe（《鲁滨逊漂流记》）则采用了增词译法（指在原文的基础上增加必要的单词、词组等，以使译文在形式与涵义更符合原文的内涵），先根据题目音译主人公的姓名，再用“漂流记”点明全文主题，以点带面，概括出小说的主要内容。其它以短语或句子为题目的英文小说名在翻译时更是仁者见仁、智者见智，译者不为原文所束缚，采用多种多样的译法，产生了直译、意译或直译与意译相结合的不同翻译版本，充分体现出译者的风格。Gone with the Wind的各种不同译法就生动地体现出不同的译法所代表的不同风格。此书可被译为《随风而逝》，它出自女主人公Scarlett ld，意在表示那场战争之后，她的亲人、家中的农场以及她的全部世界都“随风而逝”了。作者Margaret Mitchell是美国南方的作家，对南方奴隶主充满同情，这一译法暗示了作者对南北战争所持的态度。另一种翻译为《飘》，不但贴切地表现了英文题目的含义，而且较之前者“随风而逝”更富有形象、生动的文学色彩，更耐人寻味，是目前最流行的一种翻译版本。当好莱坞拍电影时，出于商业利益的考虑，将其意译为《乱世佳人》，以吸引更多观众，此种更适合做电影名，而且突出了女主人公思嘉的容姿，用“乱世”暗指战争，点明了故事发生的背景。 　　Earnest Hemingway（海明威）的两部代表作A Farewell to Arms all For Whom the Bell Tolls的不同译法则体现了直译与意译的不同内涵。A Farewell to Arms直译为《永别了，武器》，意译则为《战地春梦》。前者直截了当，表现出作者反对帝国主义战争的思想感情。后者运用文学与美学相结合的方法，令题目更富有深意，“战地”点明故事发生的背景，“春”意为“男女情欲”，“春梦”比喻“转瞬即逝的美景”，因此，其既体现了美国志愿兵Henry中尉与英国志愿者Catherine护士之间美好的爱情，又预示他们的爱情将因战争而以悲剧的形式出现，反映了作者的反战情绪及其对于战争和战后失望、迷惘的心理。ForwhomtheBellTolls曾被翻译为《丧钟为准呜》和《战地钟声》，两种译法各有其特色，前者仅将“钟”巧妙地意译为“丧钟”，表达出作者海明威的正义感，他反对法西斯战争，歌颂为人民的事业而献身的精神。在20世纪30年代中期，西班牙内战爆发，海明威四次亲赴西班牙，他不但是战地记者，而且是西班牙的热情支持者，此种泽法达到钱钟书先生所提出的翻译“化境”的准则，将原文的思想、风格神韵尽显无疑，丝毫未留下翻译的痕迹。后者则以“战地”点明故事发生的特殊的背景及地点，令读者一目了然。同时反映出译者较为中立的态度，不带任何感情色彩。 　　总之。英汉翻译不但需要深厚的英语和汉语的语言功底，而且需要了解中、英两国的历史背景和文化特征，并在深刻理解原著及作者创作意图的基础上，遵循“信、达、雅”“传神”和“化境”的原则。唯此，才能体会翻译所特有的趣味，翻译出优秀的作品，给读者以美的亨受！ 　　参考文献： 　　[1]刘季春.实用翻译教程广州.中山大学出版社.1996.31.22. 　　[2]谭哉喜西方翻译简史[M]北京.商务印书馆.1991. 　　[3]扬自俭.英汉语比较与翻译.上海.上海外语教育出版社.2010. 　　作者简介： 　　薛丽芳，女，郑州经贸职业学院，教师，从事高职高专英语专业及大学英语教学研究； 　　薛 谦，男，郑州经贸职业学院，教师。

小王子原版是法语的哈，看英文其实意义不大，只是另一个译本。如果英语水平真的是跟完全没学一样的话，小说就算了吧，可以从一些短故事、笑话之类入手。小说的话，个人推荐《柳林风声》，小时候很喜欢的儿童文学作品，文笔很好，情节也挺有意思的，词汇的话差不多是高中英语水平，中文版一天能看完。

《飘》《永别了，武器》《简爱》这三本我看过，都很好。另外你如果喜欢诗的话，可以看看拜伦的作品，很经典。
