Body languages is important in many cases. For example, if a person is under tense stress and pressure in an alarmed situation, they might not be able to hear what you are saying, so when it is like that, body language would be very important. Another example would be if a person don"t have good ears, you might need to combine speaking and body language together to make the person understand what you are saying. Those cases mentioned above all stated that body language is important, we cannot leave out body language because it is part of our behaviours that makes us realistic to others.

People usually communicate with others by spoken words. However, body language is widely used in our daily life.

Have you ever used body language to communicate with others? I think the answer is definitely sure. You must have smiled to your friend when you meet him again after a long time. Smile is body language. And it is obvious that through human being"s history, people used body language to communicate with others frequently. Such as when you find your friend is depressed, you gave him a smile to cheer him up and at that moment the smile is better than any words I think. As well as when you are surrounded by noises, you cannot make yourself understood by words so you use gestures which are body language to express your ideas.

As a conclusion, body language is as important as spoken language.

Why we have different kind of languages?

We have different languages because we are very multicultural and there are many benefits for having different trpes of languages.

Firstly, it is a challenge and a supportive learning skill for students. it provides them great knowledge to learn a variety of languages from all around the work.

Secondly, it is better for our society and to have different people. If everyone spoke the same language, then no one would be travelling over seas.

Thirdly, if there was only one language then they wouldn"t be any secret conversations, especially when you are talking about someone.

Lastly, if we didn"t have different types of languages, we wouldn"t be having different prime ministers and politicians. TV will be the same, people will be the same and so is everything else. Having many languages is very necessary and supportive so now that"s what we have!

There are lots of reasons why body language is very important in many cases.

1. Learning to use confident body language can improve our job opportunities.

We will know which body gestures make us appear confident and create a favorable first impression during an interview. This can greatly increase our chances of being hired for a position.

Our opportunities for career advancement will also increase once we learn to use the body language often seen in great leaders.

2. Using appropriate body language can increase our dating prospects.

There is a very strong connection between romance and attraction. Once we learn how to flirt effectively and read the sexual signals provided by others, we will experience more romantic success.

We will learn which individuals are attracted to us. We won"t waste valuable time on people whose body language reveals they aren"t interested.

Using confident body language will enhance our ability to attract members of the opposite sex.

3. Recognizing the significance of non-verbal gestures can help us better understand our own feelings or the feelings of others.

If we start paying closer attention to our own facial expressions or body movements, we will recognize when we are becoming upset or bored more easily.

Analyzing body gestures can also help us to understand how someone else is feeling. A person"s true emotions will be visible to us via facial and body movements once we learn to see the signs.

4. Learning to interpret body language correctly can prevent misunderstandings.

Watching a person"s facial expressions or body gestures can reveal to us if someone is feeling uncomfortable or being dishonest. We can address the situation right away.

If we rely solely on what another person is saying, we may miss important clues as to their real feelings or intentions. Words are much easier to misinterpret than our body gestures. As Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe noted:

5. Body language can convince others to accept what we have to say.

Since most of our communication is non-verbal, it"s very important that we use every part of our body to make our point. Persuasive body language is crucial to sales. However, it can be used in any social situation.

People will be much more apt to listen to and believe in what we have to say when we use confident, persuasive body language. We will appear more trustworthy and reliable.

6. Interpreting body language will improve our successful interactions with everyone around us.

We will learn to communicate much more effectively by combining appropriate body gestures with the words we choose.

By learning how to interpret the body language of others as well as ourselves, we will have more meaningful interactions.

The next time you are in a conversation, start analyzing your own body language. Pay attention to the unconscious signals you may be sending. Then begin to analyze the facial expressions, movements and gestures used by others. You"ll be surprised at how much more you can learn about yourself and others. Mastering this skill will improve your meaningful interactions in all situations. It can also help you to prevent misunderstandings, persuade others, and increase your job prospects!

(1/2)请问以Body language is the quiet ,secret and most powerful language 开头

这是body language 的作文,希望你喜欢。Body language is the quiet ,secret and most powerful language. People around the world show all kinds of feelings, wishes and attitudes that they might never speak aloud. With so many cultural differences between people,it is great to have some similarities in body language. We can often be wrong about each other,so it is an amazing thing that we understand each other as well as we do.Not all cultures greet each other the same way,nor are thay comfortable in the same way with touching or distance between people. These actions are not good or bad,but are simply ways in which cultures have developed.Ihave seen, however, that cultural customs for body language are very general--nor all members of a culture behave in the same way.In general, though, studing international customs can certainly help avoid difficulties in today"s world of cultural cressroads.

Part 2 (Para 2-3): Just like spoken language, body language varies from culture to culture. There is nothing better than sth./doing sth./to do sth. 二、语篇分析: Body Talk (P59-P. 60) (一)课文图解 1. Read the text “Body Talk” and then complete notes about body language. 1) Generally, we can divide the whole text into three parts: Part 1 (Para 1): We use both words and body language to express our thoughts and opinions and to communicate with other people. Part 2 (Para 2-3): Just like spoken language, body language varies from culture to culture. Part 3 (Para 4-5): Some gestures seem to be universal. 2) Fill in the table about gestures, countries and their meanings in these countries. (Words in italics can be blank.) GESTURES COUNTRIES MEANINGS eye contact some countries a way to show that one is interested other countries rude or disrespectful a circle with one"s thumb and index finger most countries OK Japan money France zero Brazil rude Germany thumbs up the US great or good job Nigeria rude Germany the number one Japan moving the index finger in a circle in front of the ear some countries crazy Brazil You have a phone call. (二)课文复述 Retell the text using about 100 words. Notes: 1. Try to use the –ing form to retell the text. 2. Make use of the notes and table above while retelling. 3. The possible version below can be used as material for both retelling and dictation. One possible version: We can communicate with other people by watching his body language besides words. Just like spoken language, body language varies from culture to culture. Take the gesture for OK as an example. The gesture means money in Japan and in France it means zero, while in Brazil and Germany doing so is rude. People in different countries show the same idea in different ways. For example, in many countries, shaking one"s head means “no”, and nodding means “yes”. However, in Bulgaria, parts of Greece, and Iran, the gestures have the opposite meaning. Although there are many different interpretations of our body language, some gestures seem to be universal. Perhaps the smile is the best example. A smile can help us well communicate with others.

写一篇关于肢体语言的英语作文,100字左右。 要求: 1.什么是肢体语言? 2.肢体语言有什么作用

写作思路:首先写明肢体语言(又称身体语言),是指通过头、眼、颈、手、肘、臂、身、胯、足等人体部位的协调活动来传达人物的思想,形象地借以表情达意的一种沟通方式等等。正文:Body language (also known as body language) refers to the coordinated activities of the head, eyes, neck, hand, elbow, arm, body, hip, foot and other human body parts to convey the thoughts of the characters and vividly express their ideas. Body language is also a compulsory course for actors. Body language varies greatly in different situations of different roles. Rich and accurate body language can help actors better interpret different roles.肢体语言(又称身体语言),是指通过头、眼、颈、手、肘、臂、身、胯、足等人体部位的协调活动来传达人物的思想,形象地借以表情达意的一种沟通方式。肢体语言也是演员的必修课程,不同角色不同情况下的肢体语言也大不相同,丰富准确的肢体语言能帮助演员更好的诠释不同角色。Body language, also known as body language, refers to the various movements of the body, so as to replace language to achieve the purpose of communication. In a broad sense, body language also includes the facial expressions mentioned above; in a narrow sense, body language only includes the meaning expressed by the body and limbs.肢体语言又称身体语言,是指经由身体的各种动作,从而代替语言藉以达到表情达意的沟通目的。广义言之,肢体语言也包括前述之面部表情在内;狭义言之,肢体语言只包括身体与四肢所表达的意义。 When it comes to expressing emotions by the body, we naturally think of a lot of meanings of habitual actions. For example, clapping means excitement, stopping feet means anger, rubbing hands means anxiety, drooping head represents depression, showing hands means helplessness, and beating chest represents pain. The subject expresses his emotions through such physical activities, and others can also identify the mood expressed by his body at that time.谈到由肢体表达情绪时,我们自然会想到很多惯用动作的含义。诸如鼓掌表示兴奋,顿足代表生气,搓手表示焦虑,垂头代表沮丧,摊手表示无奈,捶胸代表痛苦。当事人以此等肢体活动表达情绪,别人也可由之辨识出当时人用其肢体所表达的心境。The function of body language is to express emotions by body movements, which are often unknown to the parties. When we talk to people, sometimes frown, sometimes shake our heads, sometimes shake our hands, sometimes cross our legs, we mostly do not know. For this reason, psychologists put forward the following hypothesis: when you tell people the truth, your body will be close to the other person; when you tell a lie, your body will be far away from the other person.肢体语言作用由肢体动作表达情绪,当事人经常并不自知。当我们与人谈话时,时而蹙额,时而摇头,时而摆动手势,时而两腿交叉,我们多半并不自知。正因如此,心理学家提出一个如下的假设:当你与人说真话的时候,你的身体将与对方接近;当你与人说假话的时候,你的身体将离开对方较远。The results of this hypothesis test show that: if different subjects are asked to state the falsehood and correct facts with others, they will unconsciously keep a long distance from each other, and appear to lean back and have less physical activity, but face smile will increase.此一假设验证的结果发现:如果要求不同受试者,分别与别人陈述明知是编造的假话与正确的事实时,说假话的受试者会不自觉地与对方保持较远的距离,而且显得身体向后靠,肢体的活动较少,惟面部笑容反而增多。

帮你找了一些,希望对你有用:出处就在下面,你一定没有仔细看,不过上面的老兄没有给.body language Body language is a broad term for forms of communication using body movements or gestures instead of, or in addition to, sounds, verbal language, or other forms of communication. It forms part of the category of paralanguage, which describes all forms of human communication that are not verbal language. This includes the most subtle of movements that many people are not aware of, including winking and slight movement of the eyebrows.Paralanguage, including body language, has been extensively studied in social psychology. In everyday speech and popular psychology, the term is most often applied to body language that is considered involuntary, even though the distinction between voluntary and involuntary body language is often controversial. For example, a smile may be produced either consciously or unconsciously.TerminologyVoluntary body language refers to movement, gestures and poses intentionally made by a person (i.e., conscious smiling, hand movements and imitation). It can apply to many types of soundless communication. Generally, movement made with full or partial intention and an understanding of what it communicates can be considered voluntary.Involuntary body language quite often takes the form of facial expression, and has therefore been suggested as a means to identify the emotions of a person with whom one is communicating.Origins of body languageThe relation of body language to animal communication has often been discussed. Human paralanguage may represent a continuation of forms of communication that our non-linguistic ancestors already used, or it may be that it has been changed by co-existing with language. Some species of animals are especially adept at detecting human body language, both voluntary and involuntary: this is the basis of the Clever Hans effect (a source of artifact in comparative psychology), and was also the reason for trying to teach the chimpanzee Washoe American Sign Language rather than speech — and perhaps the reason why the Washoe project was more successful than some previous efforts to teach apes to use human language.Body language is a product of both genetic and environmental influences. Blind children will smile and laugh even though they have never seen a smile. The ethologist Iraneus Eibl-Eibesfeldt claimed that a number of basic elements of body language were universal across cultures and must therefore be fixed action patterns under instinctive control. Some forms of human body language show continuities with communicative gestures of other apes, though often with changes in meaning. More refined gestures, which vary between cultures (for example the gestures to indicate "yes" and "no"), must be learned or modified through learning, usually by unconscious observation of the environment.Social usesBody language is particularly important in group communications according to Tarnow. Body language is a factor in human courtship as a subconscious or subtle method of communication between potential mates. Researchers such as Desmond Morris have extensively studied and reported on courtship behaviour. (see also: Flirting)In the animal kingdomBody language is documented in the animal kingdom to play an important role, particularly in the case of mammals during animal courtship. As an example, the male Blue Wildebeest produces an array of behaviours in the territorial staking and subsequent mate attraction process. An erect posture signals dominance to other males, warning not to enter his domain territory. While standing, an angled head, pointing his horns at another male, invites combat. In attracting a female, he will often gore a tree to display athleticism and virility, signaling interest in mating.

分类: 教育/科学 >> 外语学习 解析: Body language Although we may not realize it when we talk with others we make ourselves understood not only by words. We send messages to the people around us also by expressions and body movements.we call it "body language ",which is a kind of munication, noverbal munication.A *** ile and handshake show wele ,Waving one"s hand is to say"goodbye", nodding the head means agreement, while shaking it means disgreement .Putting up a hand means"May I ask a question?". Kissing means"love". Waving one"s arms show happiness. These gestures are accepted both by Chinese and Americans as having the same meanings. Because culture influences munication.Different country has different culture. So the way people in different countries municate is different too.FOR EXAMPLE, Arab man often greet by kissing on both cheeks. In Japan men greet by bowing .In the Unite States, people shake hands to show"their greeting". And the gesture of putting a hand on a person" neck is different for Chinese and Americans. For Chinese,it is to say"someone will be killed". For Americans, it shows"I"m full” .And in Thailand, If you want to signal a person to e near, you should move the fingers back and forth with palm down. But in the United States, you ask someone to e by holding the palm up and moving the fingers towards our body. And crossing one"s legs in the United States is a sign of being relaxed. But in Korea , it"s not allowed. In Chinese, people hand everything with both hands to show their respect, but for Muslims, they think the left hand is unclean and do not eat or pass something with it. Because of special culture influences some counties, some body languages should attract our attention. In Turkey , putting one"s hand in one"s pockets is a sign of disrespect,In some Asican countries, you must not touch the head of another person. And in China, people don"t kiss or hug each other ,except hisher lover. For an Arab, it is a good manners to stand close to his friend when they are talking, but for English people, they don"t like to be close to one another. And in parts of Asia, you must not sit with your foot pointing at another person. All above show that it is important to know the meaning of gestures and movements in foreign country, foreigners should follow these customs, should learn their culture. So we can municate with them in a correct way, not only by words, but also by body language. I think that it is important in our lives to show and learn body language ..

body language 身体语言/肢体语言 的历史

Body language is a form of mental and physical ability of human non-verbal communication, which consists of body posture, gestures, facial expressions, and eye movements. Humans send and interpret such signals almost entirely subconsciously.James Borg states that human communication consists of 93 percent body language and paralinguistic cues, while only 7% of communication consists of words themselves;[1] however, Albert Mehrabian, the researcher whose 1960s work is the source of these statistics, has stated that this is a misunderstanding of the findings[2] (see Misinterpretation of Mehrabian"s rule). Others assert that "Research has suggested that between 60 and 70 percent of all meaning is derived from nonverbal behavior."[3]Body language may provide clues as to the attitude or state of mind of a person. For example, it may indicate aggression, attentiveness, boredom, relaxed state, pleasure, amusement, and intoxication, among many other cues.Understanding body languageThe technique of "reading" people is used frequently. For example, the idea of mirroring body language to put people at ease is commonly used in interviews. Mirroring the body language of someone else indicates that they are understood.[citation needed] It is important to note that some indicators of emotion (e.g. smiling/laughing when happy, frowning/crying when sad) are largely universal;[citation needed],[4] however in the 1990s Paul Ekman expanded his list of basic emotions, including a range of positive and negative emotions, not all of which are encoded in facial muscles.[13] The newly included emotions are:A study in body language.AmusementContemptContentmentEmbarrassmentExcitementGuiltPride in achievementReliefSatisfactionSensory pleasureShameBody language signals may have a goal other than communication. People would keep both these two in mind. Observers limit the weight they place on non-verbal cues. Signalers clarify their signals to indicate the biological origin of their actions. Examples would include yawning (sleepiness), showing lack of interest (sexual interest/survival interest), attempts to change the topic (fight or flight drivers).

肢体语言的重要性,英语作文

Communication tool as a community language is the carrier of culture, but also an integral part of culture. The language reflects the prism of different nationalities, different cultural environment, lifestyle, ideas, religious rituals, values and thinking habits. .So cultural differences the same gestures in different countries sometimes have different meaning. We communicate with more than the words we speak. Words are only one part of communication. Beyond voice communication, there are the messages our bodies send out constant. Research shows language only play the role of the expression of seven percent everyday. Sometimes the body message reinforces the words. Sometimes it contradicts them. Sometimes the messages are sent with no accompanying words and we speak in body language alone. Body language, like our verbal language, is also a part of our culture. People in the exchange, there will be unconscious of the use of body language. Body language is an expression of one"s inner world of silence and an authentic language, non-verbal means of the most eye-catching. Body Language includes space dominance, eyes, physical contact, posture movements, facial expressions, etc. But not all body language has the same meaning for different people. Different people have different ways of making nonverbal communication. Are our voices loud, angry, overbearing, confident, soft, and shy? The quality of a voice can communicate as much as the words. The same words can be tender, mocking, sarcastic or angry, depending on how they are said. We can signal our own authority by talking in a loud, overbearing way. We can use the same words to signal our humility by talking softly and hesitantly. To learn the correct hand signals to communicate with others will make you happier.

谁能给写个关于body language的英语作文?

Body language is used by people for sending messages to one another. It is very useful because it can help you make yourself easily understood. When you are talking with others, you are not just using words, but also using expressions and gestures. For example, waving one"s hand is to say "Good-bye." A smile and handshake show welcome, and clapping hands means congratulations. Nodding the head means agreement, but shaking the head means disagreement.

求肢体语言的历史?(最好是英文版的)

Brief IntroductionBody language is a form of non-verbal communication, consisting of body pose, gestures, and eye movements. Humans send and interpret such signals unconsciously. It is often said that human communication consists of 93% body language and paralinguistic cues, while only 7% of communication consists of words themselves - however, Albert Mehrabian, the researcher whose 1960s work is the source of these statistics, has stated that this is a misunderstanding of the findings (see Misinterpretation of Mehrabian"s rule). Others assert that "Research has suggested that between 60 and 70 percent of all meaning is derived from nonverbal behavior."Body language may provide cues as to the attitude or state of mind of a person. For example, it may indicate aggression, attentiveness, boredom, relaxed state, pleasure, amusement, besides many other cues.Physical ExpressionPhysical expressions like waving, pointing, touching and slouching are all forms of nonverbal communication. The study of body movement and expression is known as kinesics. Humans move their bodies when communicating because, as research has shown[citation needed], it helps "ease the mental effort when communication is difficult." Physical expressions reveal many things about the person using them. For example, gestures can emphasize a point or relay a message, posture can reveal boredom or great interest, and touch can convey encouragement or caution. * One of the most basic and powerful body-language signals is when a person crosses his or her arms across the chest. This can indicate that a person is putting up an unconscious barrier between themselves and others. It can also indicate that the person"s arms are cold which would be clarified by rubbing the arms or huddling. When the overall situation is amicable, it can mean that a person is thinking deeply about what is being discussed. But in a serious or confrontational situation, it can mean that a person is expressing opposition. This is especially so if the person is leaning away from the speaker. A harsh or blank facial expression often indicates outright hostility. * Consistent eye contact can indicate that a person is thinking positively of what the speaker is saying. It can also mean that the other person doesn"t trust the speaker enough to "take his eyes off" the speaker. Lack of eye contact can indicate negativity. On the other hand, individuals with anxiety disorders are often unable to make eye contact without discomfort. Eye contact is often a secondary and misleading gesture because we are taught from an early age to make eye contact when speaking. If a person is looking at you but is making the arms-across-chest signal, the eye contact could be indicative that something is bothering the person, and that he wants to talk about it. Or if while making direct eye contact a person is fiddling with something, even while directly looking at you, it could indicate the attention is elsewhere. Also there are three standard areas that a person will look which represent different states of being. If the person looks from one eye to the other than to the forehead it is a sign that they are taking an authoritative position. If they move from one eye to the other than to the nose, that signals that they are engaging in what they consider to be a "level conversation" with neither party holding superiority. The last case is from one eye to the other and then down to the lips. This is a strong indication of romantic feelings. * Disbelief is often indicated by averted gaze, or by touching the ear or scratching the chin. When a person is not being convinced by what someone is saying, the attention invariably wanders, and the eyes will stare away for an extended period. * Boredom is indicated by the head tilting to one side, or by the eyes looking straight at the speaker but becoming slightly unfocused. A head tilt may also indicate a sore neck or Amblyopia, and unfocused eyes may indicate ocular problems in the listener. * Interest can be indicated through posture or extended eye contact, such as standing and listening properly. * Deceit or the act of withholding information can sometimes be indicated by touching the face during conversation. Excessive blinking is a well-known indicator of someone who is lying. Recently, evidence has surfaced that the absence of blinking can also represent lying as a more reliable factor than excessive blinking. It should be noted that some people (e.g., people with certain disabilities, or those on the autistic spectrum) use and understand body language differently, or not at all. Interpreting their gestures and facial expressions (or lack thereof) in the context of normal body language usually leads to misunderstandings and misinterpretations (especially if body language is given priority over spoken language). It should also be stated that people from different cultures can interpret body language in different ways. How prevalent is non-verbal communication in humans? Some researchers put the level of nonverbal communication as high as 80 percent of all communication when it could be at around 50-65 percent. Different studies have found differing amounts, with some studies showing that facial communication is believed 4.3 times more often than verbal meaning, and another finding that verbal communication in a flat tone is 4 times more likely to be understood than a pure facial expression. Albert Mehrabian is noted for finding a 7%-38%-55% rule, supposedly denoting how much communication was conferred by words, tone, and body language. However he was only referring to cases of expressing feelings or attitudes, such as when a person says "I do not have a problem with you!" when people commonly focus on the tone of voice, and body language of the person, rather than the actual words said. It is a common misconception that these percentages apply to all communication.Body language and spaceInterpersonal space refers to the psychological "bubble" that we can imagine exists when someone is standing way too close to us. Research has revealed that in North America there are four different zones of interpersonal space. The first zone is called intimate distance and ranges from touching to about eighteen inches apart. Intimate distance is the space around us that we reserve for lovers, children, as well as close family members and friends. The second zone is called personal distance and begins about an arm"s length away; starting around eighteen inches from our person and ending about four feet away. We use personal distance in conversations with friends, to chat with associates, and in group discussions. The third zone of interpersonal space is called social distance and is the area that ranges from four to eight feet away from you. Social distance is reserved for strangers, newly formed groups, and new acquaintances. The fourth identified zone of space is public distance and includes anything more than eight feet away from you. This zone is used for speeches, lectures, and theater; essentially, public distance is that range reserved for larger audiences.

英语介绍body language,用来做一个两分钟左右的presentation

Brief Introduction to Body Language Human communication is achieved by the verbal and the nonverbal. The non- verbal communication, body language,is such an important medium for people to communicate in their daily life because it assumes almost eighty percent of communication. In terms of the definition of body language,Guan Shijie holded,“Nonlinguistic communication or nonverbal communication is the one realized not by verbal language but by potential nonverbal information during the conversation.” Studies on human culture also suggest that with the exception of verbal language there are other nonverbal factors, such as tones, postures, etc.in face–to–face communication.Hence body language belongs to nonlinguistic communication, which sends messages and expresses ideas by the application of eyesight, facial expression, gesture, posture and so on.According to different criteria, body language falls into various types. As for characteristics, body language is composed of simple body language, complex body language and blended body language. With regard to the ways in expressing meaning,it is made up of the demonstrative and the symbolic. The definition and type of body language mentioned above lead to the following characteristics:visual, tangible, flexible and diverse. In other words, body language can show people"s intentions directly, vividly, clearly and concretely . 以body language为题写一篇120词左右的英语短文

Body language is one of the most powerful means of communication, ofen even more powerful than spoken language.People around the world show all kinds of feelings, wishes and attitudes that they might never speak aloud.

For example, men in Russia, France and Arab countries kiss each other when they meet, but men in China or Australia shake hands instead of kissing. People in Puerto Rio like touching each other, but people from English speaking countries do not touth each other. If you touch an English person, you should say "Sorry.' People in Arab countries like standing close to one another when they are talking, but English people must keep a distance away when they are talking. In some Asian countries, you must not touch the head of another person. In Arab countries, you eat using the fingers of your right land;the left hand is not used at all. In parts of Asia you must not sit with your feet pointing at another person. When you use a foreign language, it is very important to know the meanings of gestures and movements in the foreign country. Following the customs will help you commun icate with people and make your stay there much more pleasant and comfortable.

The Use of Body Language in Middle Schools 作者:Zhnag Le… 文章来源:Hankou Branch of Huazhong University of Science and Technology 点击数:28724 更新时间:2005-1-1 【Thesis】: With the continual reform of language teaching and learning methods, teachers are in great demand to organize the classes in English and create English-learning circumstances. However, with the limitation of students" vocabulary, teachers have to simplify their teaching language with the help of facial expressions and body movements. In this article, the possibility and the effect of using body language in listening, speaking, reading and writing will be further discussed. 【Key words】: English teaching in middle schools, body language I. Introduction As everyone knows, the classroom teaching is one of the most important ways that the students learn English. As far as the English teaching in the middle schools is concerned, teachers have to arouse the students" interest so that they may learn better. There are many ways to arouse the students" interest and help them to learn better, body language used in English teaching is one of them.Body language is an important media through which people communicate with each other. It refers to the patterns of facial expressions and gestures that people use to express their feelings in communication. The specialist on body language research, Fen. Lafle. Angles, once said: "Once it was lost, a baby couldn"t have grown into a normal person". It"s also true to the juveniles. In school education, body language plays a positive role in cultivating the students" characters. For, teachers are usually respected, and factually, what or how the teachers say and do will be possibly imitated by the students (sometimes subconsciously). In a word, teachers" graceful body language helps to improve the students" artistic-appreciation and moral character. If the students develop a wonderful body language, which will possibly leads them to form an optimistic and active feelings, they will surely have a more smooth interpersonal relation. The affection of teachers" body language on the students is reflected not only by establishing a good example, but also shortening the teacher-student estrangement by which a more harmonious studying atmosphere is created. As a matter of fact, teachers" friendly appearance can greatly encourage the students" studying enthusiasm. Furthermore, the characteristics of theoretic and abstraction of knowledge also requires the vivid, dramatic and an accessible gestures to make it specific and figurative. As a result, the students" interest is motivated and the effect of teaching is greatly improved. II. The necessity and importance of using body language in English teaching English teaching is a key part of the school education. With the English teaching methods reform, more and more English teachers organize the teaching process in English so that they may realize the Communicated English. The Communicated English means that teachers instruct the students and explain questions basically in English, and the students are also required to use English in class. Contemporarily, however, the students in the middle school can"t speak very well; neither can they understand why they should use different tones in different time or situation; their&nb sp;vocabulary and expressive ability are limited too. These limitations made it difficult to realize the Communicated English in the classes. According to the students" present level and practical situation, body language is required. For example, when a teacher gives an instruction: "You two, please come to the blackboard." The students can easily understand it if the teacher looks at (or points to) some two students. Then, the teacher points to the blackboard. The students will carry out the order without obstacle even if they don"t hear the key words "blackboard" clearly. Furthermore, teachers usually have to explain some language points, and at this time, they have to differentiate the classroom expressions and the examples. Take it for example, we ought to use the form "have done" such as "Have you finished that job jet?"" To make the students understand clearly, a teacher has lots of ways. To do it by speed, he uses a common speed when reading "we ought to use the form "have done"", and reads slowly when giving examples; he can also get the effect by repeating&n bsp;the example "Have you finished that job jet"; a more frequent way is to use gestures to lay emphasis on the key points when he said "have done"(emphasizing it in voice at the same time), he reaches out his index finger, pauses in the air, and then gives out the example. This action will usually give the students a deep impression. From the above we can learn, the use of body language in English teaching is necessary and practical. In the English teaching in middle schools, body language is frequently used to improve the teach ing effect and the students" ability.III. The concrete application of the body language in listening, speaking, reading and writing 1. Body language helps to improve listening The Greek philosopher Epictetus ever wittily said: "Nature has given man one tongue and two ears that he may hear twice as much as he speaks." From the saying we can learn how important the listening is in our daily life. To understand others is a basic purpose in English teaching, and teachers often train the students" listening accordingly. In this process, if the body language is used, the effect will be better. When beginning a new lesson, the teacher narrates the story outline in English. The body language may help. For example, a&n bsp;teacher can stretch his arms slowly when he says "She is in a very big room"; he can open his eyes widely with mouth opened when he says "She is so beautiful a lady". As a result, the students will have such an impression: She is very beautiful indeed; a teacher who imitates the crying or the movement of the animals under the premise of teaching order will surely achieve a better effect.2. Body language helps to improve speaking The spoken language is one of the important ways to communicate, so we should try to develop the students" ability of speaking. Factually they are helped to reach the aim in a certain degree by their teacher"s body language. The contemporary emphasis is gradually laid on spoken English teaching. The first lesson of every unit in Senior English begins with dialogue. The teaching programs require the teachers to organize the class to practice English according to the characteristics of dialogue. Generally speaking, the body language can arouse and sustain the students" interest of learning and using English. In the English class, the teachers should not only use body languages themselves, but also ask the students to use them according to the different situation. Take it for example, the f irst lesson in Unit one, Book one is about the time when the new students first meet, and they don"t know each other. So a teacher can introduce himself first, such as: "Hello, everyone, nice to meet you here. Now I"ll introduce myself to you. My name is Arthur. I like playing basketball, for, it makes me much stronger; I like playing chess, for, it makes me more clever; and I like reading books, for, "reading makes one perfect"". During the introduction, the teacher should use the new vocabularies and sentence structures together& nbsp;with a vivid expression and mating gestures as possibly as he can. He smiles when he says hello to the class; he shakes hands with some students saying "Nice to meet you"; he writes name down on the blackboard; he imitates the action of dribbling and shooting at the basketball, playing chess and turning pages to explain his hobby. After his introduction, the teacher can create a circumstance for the students to practice: "Mary and Jack are new classmates. They are walking together in the street, and they meet one of Jack"s old f riends, Yangpei. Then Yangpei and Mary are introduced to each other by Jack." After the students" practice the dialogue is introduced naturally from it. Usually, the application of body language in different situations will result in an attracting and successful lesson.3. Body language helps to improve reading The purpose of Senior English teaching is to train the students" preliminary ability of using spoken and written English. In the senior school, we lay emphasis one the reading ability that serves the students" further study. Here we mainly mention the helpfulness for reading aloud(朗读). Reading aloud helps the students to get a correct pronunciation and intonation and to develop the combination of vocabularies" pronunciation, spelling and meaning. Furthermore it also helps the students to find out the article"s internal feelings and appreciate the beauty of the la nguage. A linguist ever said: "A poem is not a poem until it is read." Reading aloud is basic in the middle school, and the teachers should make full use of body language to develop the students" ability of reading aloud. When reading the sentences, attention should be paid to where to speak softly, emphasize, and raise or lower our tone. To make it clear, we can imitate the strong or soft pats that are used in music teaching, which means to use the arcs to represent different tones. Generally speaking, we use falling tones in declarative and special interrogative sentence, first rising tones and then falling tones in the choosing interrogative sentence. The students in the middle school are not often accustomed to and always confuse them, however, with the help of body&nbs p;language, they can solve the problem much more easily. For example, they use gestures. As they read the choosing interrogative sentence, they raise their hands in rising tones and lower in falling tones. After training for some times, as soon as they read the sentences, they will remind themselves of the gestures. As a result, there will be no problems in rightly reading the sentences at all.In a word, the vivid gesture together with the fluent English can create a good circumstance of learning, which will surely play an active part in improving the students" reading ability.4. Body language helps to improve writing. Writing is one of the four basic skills of learning language, and it is so important a skill that we can even say without it, people can"t communicate with others. Not only should the students get some English knowledge and vocabularies, but also the ability to communicate in spoken and written English as what is mentioned in the teaching programs. To some extent, writing is much more important than speaking, for it can spread without the limitation of space and time. Since the students learn English as a media for communication, they should have& nbsp;the ability of writing. To get rid of the students" feelings of being dull and tiring, an English teacher has to use every possible method. This is the same to the writing. Teachers use different method in order to improve the students" ability of writing, among which, the application of body language can deepen the object impression, such is magnificent in developing the students" writing ability. The linguist Franklin ever said, "Tell me, I"ll forget; teach me, I"ll remember; involve me and I"ll learn." If we asked the students to write an unfamiliar composition, they would probably be unable to and feel discouraged. However, the students can write excellent articles if they have the experience. In and out of class, we should ask the students to participate some English-related activities, and then ask them to write it down. Take "The First Snow in Winter" for example, having enjoyed themselves in the beautiful snowing and been giv en some hints, the students can write much better a composition. For contrast to their complete imagination, the students are deeply impressed by the body movement of the teachers and themselves, which surely leads to a better article.IV. Conclusion Learning English needs practice. The 45 minutes in class is very precious and should be cherished, during which the students should practice as much as possible. To exert the limited time, teachers are required to adopt some effective methods. The use of body language can not only attract the students" attention, but also deepen their impression and imagination. The use of body language is completely up to the standard of audio-visual teaching principle, so teachers should try to teach in English from the beginning to the end, together with the corresponding&nbs p;body language. In the end, the students" ability of English will be certainly and greatly improved.Bibliography: 1. He Guangkeng, The Basis of English Teaching and Learning Methods, Ji Nan University Press, 1999 2. Body Language和Nonverbal Communication名词解释

Body language is a broad term for forms of communication using body movements or gestures instead of, or in addition to, sounds, verbal language, or other forms of communication. It forms part of the category of paralanguage, which describes all forms of human communication that are not verbal language. The relation of body language to animal communication has often been discussed. Human paralanguage may represent a continuation of forms of communication that our non-linguistic ancestors already used, or it may be that it has been changed by co-existing with language. Some species of animals are especially adept at detecting human body language, both voluntary and involuntary: this is the basis of the Clever Hans effect (a source of artifact in comparative psychology), and was also the reason for trying to teach the chimpanzee Washoe American Sign Language rather than speech — and perhaps the reason why the Washoe project was more successful than some previous efforts to teach apes how to dance. Nonverbal communication (NVC) is usually understood as the process of sending and receiving wordless messages. Such messages can be communicated through gesture; body language or posture; facial expression and eye gaze; object communication such as clothing, hairstyles or even architecture; symbols and infographics; prosodic features of speech such as intonation and stress and other paralinguistic features of speech such as voice quality, emotion and speaking style. The first scientific study of nonverbal communication was Charles Darwin"s book The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals (1872). He argued that all mammals show emotion reliably in their faces. Studies now range across a number of fields, including kinesics, linguistics, semiotics and social psychology. Proxemics refers to how people use and interpret space. While much nonverbal communication is based on arbitrary symbols which differ from culture to culture, a large proportion is also to some extent iconic and may be universally understood. Paul Ekman"s influential 1960s studies of facial expression determined that expressions of anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness and surprise are universal. 好长…………

求介绍肢体语言(body language)的英语文章

Body language is a broad term for forms of communication using body movements or gestures instead of, or in addition to, sounds, verbal language, or other forms of communication. It forms part of the category of paralanguage, which describes all forms of human communication that are not verbal language. This includes the most subtle of movements that many people are not aware of, including winking and slight movement of the eyebrows. In addition body language can also incorporate the use of facial expressions.Paralanguage, including body language, has been extensively studied in social psychology. In common parlance and popular psychology, the term is most often applied to body language that is considered involuntary, even though the distinction between voluntary and involuntary body language is often controversial. For example, a smile may be produced either consciously or unconsciously.Voluntary body language refers to movement, gestures and poses intentionally made by a person (e.g., conscious smiling, hand movements and imitation). It can apply to many types of soundless communication. Generally, movement made with full or partial intention and an understanding of what it communicates can be considered voluntary.TerminologyInvoluntary body language quite often takes the form of facial expression, and has therefore been suggested as a means to identify the emotions of a person with whom one is communicating.Origins of body languageThe relation of body language to animal communication has been discussed. The ethologist Irenaus Eibl-Eibesfeldt claimed that a number of basic elements of body language were universal across cultures and must therefore be fixed action patterns under instinctive control. Some forms of human body language show continuities with communicative gestures of other apes, though often with changes in meaning. More refined gestures, which vary between cultures (for example the gestures to indicate "yes" and "no"), must be learned or modified through learning, usually by unconscious observation of the environment.Understanding body languageIntensity levels of face-to-face meetings can range from mild to severe -- and often in the heat of the moment participants unwittingly give away their feelings by unconscious displays of body language. Understanding this unspoken but very readable language can give you an edge in many situations. In this Workshop, contributor Jeff Moses offers a few fundamental but highly indicative signs to watch for.1) One of the most basic and powerful body-language signals is when a person crosses his or her arms across the chest. This can indicate that a person is putting up an unconscious barrier between themselves and others. It can also indicate that the person"s arms are cold. Such a person is not an ally, and may be considering contentious tactics. How to make use of this type of body language: when you see such body signals, you need to adjust your presentation to fit a hostile situation. If, for instance, you"re negotiating salary with your boss or supervisor when you notice these signals, realize that he or she is not thinking favorably, and unless you act to overcome that feeling, your raise could be in question.2) Consistent eye contact can indicate that a person is thinking positively of what the speaker is saying, although it must be noted that individuals with anxiety disorders are often unable to make eye contact without discomfort. It can also mean that the other person doesn"t trust the speaker enough to "take his eyes off" the speaker. Lack of eye contact can indicate negativity. How to make use of this type of body language: depending on the situation, try to interpret what the person may be thinking or feeling. If you sense that they are upset about something, ask about their personal thoughts on the subject. If you sense that they"re bored, guide the conversation to a different topic. When you have the advantage of reading inner feelings from body signals, encourage the person to express themselves. This will deepen communication, which in business is always a positive goal because fruitful communication leads to greater productivity within a company.3) Disbelief is often indicated by averted gaze, or by touching the ear or scratching the chin. So is eyestrain, or itchiness. When a person is not being convinced by what someone is saying, the attention invariably wanders, and the eyes will stare away for an extended period. How to make use of this type of body language: simply realize that the examples or reasoning you"re using are not adequate to convince. Encourage the person to speak out any doubts so you can address them openly.4) Boredom is indicated by the head tilting to one side, or by the eyes looking straight at the speaker but becoming slightly unfocused. A head tilt may also indicate a sore neck, and unfocused eyes may indicate occular problems in the listener. How to make use of this type of body language: when you see that a person is bored, move on to something else in the conversation because you"re not getting anywhere with what you"re presenting.Although they are generally not aware of it, many people send and receive non-verbal signals all the time. These signals may indicate what they are truly feeling. The technique of "reading" people is used frequently. For example, the idea of mirroring body language to put people at ease is commonly used in interviews. It sets the person being interviewed at ease. Mirroring the body language of someone else indicates that they are understood. However, some people (e.g., people with certain disabilities, or those on the autistic spectrum) use and understand body language differently, or not at all. Interpreting their gestures and facial expressions (or lack thereof) in the context of normal body language usually leads to misunderstandings and misinterpretations (especially if body language is given priority over spoken language). It should also be stated that people from different cultures can interpret body language in different ways.Social usesBody language is particularly important in group communications because for large groups it dominates the spoken word.[1].Body language is a factor in human courtship as a subconscious or subtle method of communication between potential mates. Researchers such as Desmond Morris have extensively studied and reported on courtship behaviour. (see also: Flirting)Body language is now widely used in the field of selling, where sales personnel are trained to observe and read the body language of their potential customers. Sales personnel trained to read body language can now utilize this skill to read the subliminal cue exhibited by the customers to close a deal. Consequently, many companies such as insurance companies, direct-selling companies, international car-showrooms now engage body language experts.Examples of body languageIn our daily lives we encounter many forms of body language gestures, these are a few examples:Stress: shaking of legs Lying: Face turned away, no eye contact, or looking to the left (fabricating information). Also wiping hands on trousers to get rid of sweat or fidgeting with hands Aggression: Clenched fists, squaring of shoulders, stiffening of posture, tensing of muscles Anxiety: Massaging temples, different than normal breathing rates, hunched shoulders, nervous head movements Shut off:crossed arms, and or crossed legs ReferencesArgyle, M. 英文版的bodylanguage

When you donu2019t speak you may still be communicating. It is true that you may not wish to say anything. But your very silence may show your wish to be left alone or to stay uninvolved, which is the message you want to send. So it has been justly said that while “we speak with our vocal organs we converse with our whole bodies.” All of us communicate with one another nonverbally, as well as with words. Sometimes we know what weu2019re doing, as with the use of gestures such as the thumbs-up sign to indicate that we approve. But most of the time weu2019re not aware that weu2019re dong it. We gesture with eyebrows or a hand, meet someone elseu2019s eyes and look away, shift positions in a chairu2026 These actions we assume are random and incidental. But researchers have discovered that there is a system to them almost as consistent and comprehensible as language, and they conclude that there is a whole range of body language, including the way we move, the gestures we employ, the posture we adopt, the facial expression we wear, the direction of our gaze, the extent to which we touch and distance we stand from each other. The body language serves a variety of purposes. Firstly it can replace verbal communication, as with the use of gesture. Secondly it can modify verbal communication. Loudness and tone of voice is an example here. Thirdly it regulates social interaction: turn taking is largely governed by non-verbal signals. Fourthly it conveys our emotions. Finally it conveys our attitude towards ourselves and towards the people we are communicating with. This is particularly important for successful cross-cultural communication. Every culture has its own body language, and children absorb its nuances along with spoken language. A Frenchman talks and moves in French. The way an Englishman crosses his nothing like the way. A male American does it. When we communicate with people from other cultures, the body language sometimes help make the communication easy and effective, such as shaking hands is such a universal gesture that people all over the world know that it is a signal for greeting. But sometimes the body language can cause certain misunderstanding since people of different cultures often have different forms of behavior for sending the same body signals. Nodding oneu2019s head is generally meant to show agreement “yes”, but to Nepalese, Sri Lankans, some Indians and some Eskimos, it means not “yes”, but “no”. When an American rubs his nose, it may mean hi is disagreeing with someone or rejecting something. But there is a conversation between students and professor which holds that the older manu2019s eyes a little longer than usual can be a sign of respect and affection; can be a subtle challenge to the professoru2019s authority; or can be something else entirely. Numerous studies have indicated that different cultural groups can recognize direct expressions of emotion with equal levels of agreement. Facial expressions of such basic emotions as happiness, anger, disgust, sadness, fear and surprise are recognizable all over the world. Among the Japanese, however, the open and full expression of a number of these emotions is likely to be held in check. As a result Americans dealing with the Japanese may find themselves perplexed by what they perceive as a lack of emotion expression. To those coming from societies which are less restrained in such matters the Japanese may at first fight appear somewhat inscrutable. It is only with time that such outsiders can begin to recognize that degree of emotional restraint being exercised. Within societies there are also differences between groups in terms of differences in the extent which emotions are expressed. In Britain, for example, the traditional male role is one that involves the suppression of the expression most emotions. Women, on the other hand, are expected to express their emotions more freely. Not only do women give off more nonverbal emotional signals, but there is also much evidence that they are better at interpreting such messages. So in order to achieve a more successful cross-cultural communication, we need not only know u2018what to sayu2019 but also u2018how to say it appropriateu2019. In other words, if we want to communicate with people of other cultures more successfully, we need not only be able to use the verbal language appropriately, but also be able to use the nonverbal behaviors that go with that particular language. Observation shows that a truly bilingual person switches his body languages at the same time he switches languages. In the 24 years since China opened up to the outside world, the Chinese have seen that internationalization works. This means a root and branch reform of Chinese economy. Entering the WTO, China will enrich itself and the world. Then body language is the most powerful, efficient and common means for communication and it will also be more and more important in the future society.

肢体语言的英语作文150字左右

一片关于Body language的英语作文

Body language is used by people for sending messages to one another. It is very useful because it can help you make yourself easily understood. When you are talking with others, you are not just using words, but also using expressions and gestures. For example, waving one's hand is to say "Good-bye." A smile and handshake show welcome, and clapping hands means congratulations. Nodding the head means agreement, but shaking the head means disagreement. The gestures are accepted both by Chinese and foreigners as having the same meanings. Different countries have different body language. Following the customs will help you communicate with people and make your stay there much more pleasant and comfortable.

围绕“body language”80词左右的英文文章

Body language is one of the most powerful means of communication, ofen even more powerful than spoken language.People around the world show all kinds of feelings, wishes and attitudes that they might never speak aloud.

英语关于语言的阅读理解

We use both words and body language to express our thoughts and opinions and to communicate with other people. We can learn about what a person is thinking by watching his or he r body language. Words are important, but the way a person stands, folds his or her arms, or moves his or her hands can also give us information about his or her feelings.Just like spoken language, body language varies from culture to culture. Making eye contact —looking directly into someone"s eyes — is in some countries a way to show interest. In other countries, however, eye contact is rude or disrespectful. The gesture for Ok, making a circle with one"s thumb and index finger, has different meanings in different cultures. In Japan, someone who sees another person making the gesture will think it means money. In France, a person seeing the same gesture will think it means zero. In Brazil and Germany, however, the gesture is rude. The thumbs-up gesture, meaning “great” or “good job” in the US is rude in Nigeria, but in Germany and Japan it means the number one. The “crazy” gesture, moving the index finger in a circle in front of the ear, means “you have a phone call” in Brazil.Even the gesture we use for “yes” and “no” are different around the world. In many countries, shaking one"s head means “no”, and nodding means “yes”. In Bulgaria, parts of Greece, and Iran, however, the gestures have the opposite meaning. There are also differences as to how often we touch each other, how close we stand to someone we are talking to, and how we act when w e meet or part. In some countries, for example, France and Russia, a visiting friend is greeted with a kiss on the check, in other countries people greet each other with a firm handshake, a loving hug, a bow or a simply a nod of the head。While there are many different interpretations of our body language, some gestures seem to be universal. Pressing one"s palms together and resting one"s head on the back of one"s hand while closing the eyes as if sleeping means “I am tired.” A good way o f saying “I am full” is mov ing the hand in circles over the stomach after a meal. If a person pats his or her stomach before a meal, it usually means “ I"m hungry.”Perhaps the best example of universally understood body language is the smile. A smile can help us get through difficult situation and f ind friends in a world of strangers. A smile can open doors and tear down walls. It can be used to express almost any emotion. We can use a smile to apologise, to greet someone, to ask for help or to start a conversation. We can smile at ourselves in the mirror to make ourselves feel happier and stronger. And if we are feeling down or lonely, there is nothing better than to see the smiling face of a good friend.28.In our daily life, which of the following do we use to communicate with each other?A. gestures B. words C. smiles D. all above29.As a Chinese , if you are lost in Germany, without knowing German, you"d better---- to ask for help?A. use eye-contact B. thumb-up C. smile D. say “excuse me”30.What does this passage mainly about?A. all the gestures in the world B. the same body language in the worldC. gestures in the western countries D. using proper gesture to express yourself31.The underlined word “universal” in the last second paragraph probably means ______.A. wide B. common C. not similar D. in space 28-31DCDB

急求一篇英语的辩论稿,主题关于“Body language is important and useful”

肢体语言(Body Language) Body language is used by people for sending messages to one another. It is very useful because it can help you make yourself easily understood. When you are talking with others, you are not just using words, but also using expressions and gestures. For example, waving one"s hand is to say "Good-bye." A *** ile and handshake show wele, and clapping hands means congratulations. Nodding the head means agreement, but shaking the head means disagreement. The gestures are accepted both by Chinese and foreigners as having the same meanings. Different countries have different body language. For example, men in Russia, France and Arab countries kiss each other when they meet, but men in China or Australia shake hands instead of kissing. People in Puerto Rio like touching each other, but people from English speaking countries do not touth each other. If you touch an English person, you should say "Sorry." People in Arab countries like standing close to one another when they are talking, but English people must keep a distance away when they are talking. Following the customs will help you municate with people and make your stay there much more pleasant and fortable.
